Controlling Pests (Pf)

An administrative hearing was conducted on 10/31/24 at 1010 Mass Ave. An inspection was conducted today 11/07/24 and ISD Enviromental was also present. There is still evidence of rodent droppings inside the store on the food bins and on the floor. Photos taken. ISD Enviromental inspected the basement and found old rat droppings but stated he was not able to get to the back of the basement due to the clutter. Spoke to the exterminator on the phone and he stated that he has given multiple recommendations to the owner and both extermination reports state this as well. The recommendations are still outstanding. He stated that they have caught 7 or 8 rats in the space adjacent to the market. On one of the extermination reports it states that there are rat borrows in the space adjacent to the market which is also owned by Shola (owner of Blessing of God Market. The owner was asked if she is storing foods or any other items in the space adjacent to the market and she stated Yes ISD Enviromental was prive to this converstation. The adjacent space door was open 1/2 way and we were able to take photos of the inside but did not enter into the space. We noticed a box that had been chewed when we looked inside the space. We asked the owner if we could inspect the space and we were denied. ISD Enviromental went to buisness next to the space which is also owned by Shola and asked if he could inspect their basement and he was able to go down to the basement. This basement was clean but the PIC stated that they have seen a rat. Contact the licensed exterminator and we recommend weekly inspections to be conducted until a clean report can be provided for both establishments. Clean and remove any old or new rodent droppings. Please provide access into the space adjacent to the market when you are ready for the re opening inspection.

Code Requirements

IMMEDIATE ACTION: Clean/sanitize all affected areas with 10% bleach solution. Discard ALL exposed food. Seal holes over 1/4 inch (mice) or 1/2 inch (rats). Remove food sources. Install bait stations. Professional extermination within 24 hours.
